Nameplates (Steam)




A brass LNER Locomotive Nameplate "HARVESTER" As carried by a Gresley designed ex LNER A3 4-6-2 Pacific Locomotive BR No 60074 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Glasgow (Works No 23111) in October 1924 and rebuilt from an A1 to an A3 in April 1928. Allocations included Gateshead, Edinburgh Haymarket, York, Heaton and Leeds Neville Hill from where it was withdrawn in April 1963. Cut up at Doncaster works 06/63. Harvester (1881-1906) was a famous British thoroughbred racehorse and sire. A magnificent plate that we present for the first time in Auction since being removed from the loco.



Brass GWR Steam Locomotive Nameplate "PRINCESS MAUD". As carried by a GWR Star Class 4-6-0 locomotive No. 4049. Built at Swindon Works in May 1914 under order No 199. Entered service May 1914. First allocation Wolverhampton Stafford Rd, last allocation Westbury. Withdrawn by BR in November 1950, cut up Swindon Works 7/53. In superb restored condition. Nice example!!
Princess Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria was the third daughter and youngest surviving child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra of Denmark.



Brass Locomotive Nameplate "LOCH OICH" As carried by a Gresley designed ex GNR K2/2 2-6-0 locomotive BR No 61794. Built by Kitson & Co of Leeds in September 1921. Ex loco; traces of LNER Apple Green on rear face. Allocations included Peterborough, New England, Edinburgh St Margarets and Glasgow Eastfield, from where it worked the West Highland Line and excursions all over the Scottish Region. Withdrawn July 1960. Note: Loch Oich is located within the "Great Glen" of Scotland and along the route of the Caledonian Canal. Cut up at Cowlairs Works in August 1960.



Brass Locomotive Nameplate "SIR DAVID STEWART" As carried by a Wm Pickersgill/Heywood designed ex GNSR/LNER Class D40 4-4-0 tender locomotive No 6847 becoming LNER/BR Number "62275" built by the North British Locomotive Co Glasgow in September 1920 works number 22561. Allocated to Kittybrewster and then Keith from where it was withdrawn in December 1955. Cut up at Doncaster Works in January 1956. Sir David Stewart was a Conservative who became the Lord Provost of Aberdeen Between 1889-1895. Extremely rare plate only 21 built in the class, only seven of these carried names, four of these to have ever been offered in auction up to this one. First time in Auction.



GWR Brass Locomotive Nameplate "CROXTETH HALL" As carried by Collett designed 4-6-0 tender locomotive numbered 6923 built at Swindon Works in July 1941. Allocations included Didcot, Reading and Oxford from where it was withdrawn in December 1965. Cut up at Cashmore's Newport, South Wales 05/66. Croxteth Hall is situated in West Kirby, Liverpool. Now a Country Park Museum.



GWR Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "WOOLLAS HALL" As carried by Collett designed 4-6-0 tender locomotive numbered 5965 built at Swindon Works in August 1936. Allocations included Gloucester Horton Rd, Oxford, Oxley and Tyseley from where it was withdrawn in July 1962. Cut up at Cashmores Great Bridge 09/62. Woollas Hall is situated 4 Miles South of Pershore, Worcestershire. Lot and loco number stamped on the rear. Left hand plate. Front restored, back Ex loco condition.



Brass Nameplate "SIR PERCIVALE" As carried by a Urie designed ex LSWR/SR King Arthur Class N15 4-6-0 Locomotive No 30772 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Glasgow in June 1925. This name originates from the Knights of the Round Table. Allocations included Stewarts Lane, Dover, Ramsgate, Hither Green and Bournemouth from where it was withdrawn in September 1961. Cut up at Eastleigh works 12/61.


Fine Railway Clock Selection




A 12" Drop case clock, with fusee movement and dial inscribed G W R. The mahogany case has a one piece surround with a spun brass bezel. The back box has a side and lower door and retains its BR-WR 4624 plate. A lovely looking clock complete with pendulum and key. Full working order.




A S.R. 18" Mahogany cased clock with a chain driven fusee movement and dial inscribed S. R. JNO WALKER 1 South Molton Street London 10015. The Mahogany faced surround is marked 10015 and is fitted with a solid brass bezel. The back box has one side and one lower door and is complete with winding key and pendulum. Location for this clock include VICTORIA SYDENHAM HILL AND PENG EAST BOOKING HALL. Full working order.




A 12" Dial clock marked LNWR Joyce of Whitchurch with fusee movement - No 2799 on face. The case has a one piece mahogany surroundwith a solid brass bezel. The back box has one side and one lower door. Complete with pendulum and key. Full working order.




A 10" Mahogany cased clock, marked BR (E) No. 8077 on the rear of the dial. The clock face carries the inscription of Stockall and Marple of Clerkenwell - G.N.R. This fusee clock is complete with pendulum and key and was used at Mexborough motive power foreman's office. A fine looking clock. Full working order.




An 8" Dial clock marked LNWR Joyce of Whitchurch with fusee movement. The case has a one piece mahogany surround with a solid brass bezel. The back box has one side and one lower door and retains its LMS brass plate No. 13468 and is complete with pendulum and key. Full working order.


 

Cheshire Lines Committee Joint Railway 12" Dial clock No. 203 BR(M) No. 18237. Supplied by W Mc Ferran of Manchester Circa 1870. It came from Ashley Station, East Cheshire, which is still open today. The quality English Chain Driven fusee movement has "A" shaped plates held together by cylindrical pillars. The mahogany case has a one piece turned surround and a spun brass bezel. The back box has one side door and one lower door with a brass looking catch. The lower door retains the C L C Instructions for regulating the clock and confirms the C L C Clock No.203 and station location of ASHLEY. A fine example of a rare clock, complete with pendulum and key. Full working order.




A N.S.Rly 12" Fusee movement Dial Clock supplied to the North Staffordshire Railway by Thos Armstrong and Bros of Manchester with original dial. The back box has one side door and one lower door with its L M S Brass plate No. 8952 fixed to the side, complete with pendulum and key. A GOOD EXAMPLE OF A RARE CLOCK. Full working order.
