Movement
The quality English chain driven fusee movement with rectangular plates that are held together by turned tapered pillars, is in fully restored and guaranteed condition. The characteristics of this movement point to a clock manufactured between 1890-1900.
Dial
A white enamel painted dial displaying Roman numerals and the GWR in the 1930's Roundel device, surrounded by a spun brass bezel with a plastered in sight ring.
Case
A traditional English dial trunk case manufactured out of mahogany.
A turned convex surround affixed to the back box by two battens with four tapered pegs, the back box is of traditional late 19TH century design with two side access doors and a bottom door secured with a brass lock.

It is solid silver with a 15 jewel Brequet anti- magnetic movement and had the dual function of being a Station Master's timepiece for use in the office and on the platform. A typical locomotive of the period is inscribed on the dial and rear case cover. It has a 24 hour movement and is in perfect working order. In the 1960’s BR wanted to phase out the paraffin 3 colour/4 colour hand signal lamp. SNLW was asked to make up samples for a trial using batteries as a power source. A sample of Item 13 was submitted, followed by the manufacture of a batch of Item 14. Some were also supplied to London Transport. BR did not take up these patterns instead opting for an aluminium die cast body produced by a manufacturer in Southampton.
