![]() | On 26th September 2023 Modern Railways and CrossCountry joined forces to organise a charity railtour to mark the withdrawal of CrossCountry's HSTs after 41 years' service.
Proceeds from the 'Pines Express' special service from Leeds to the Swanage Railway will go to the Brain Tumour Charity, in memory of former Cross Country colleague Jo Taylor.
Over 700 passengers enjoyed the day. Proceeds from the sale of this commemorative headboard, specially made for this one-off trip, will be added to the total raised for this very worthy cause.

A label on the back states that the nameplate was removed in 1971. Loco was withdrawn from Longsight 6/84 and cut up at Crewe Works 9/85. These are the original two badges depicting the coat of arms of Test Valley and Borough of Romsey and were fitted below the nameplate when carried by 73142 previously E6049 and later 73201. The loco was named at Romsey station on 25/9/80 by Lord Romsey and carried until 4/99 by which time it was a Gatwick Express loco numbered 73201. This loco was used to haul the empty stock for the Mountbatten funeral train on 5/9/79 and was the first Class 73 to be named. It was renamed BROADLANDS again on 21/5/09 during the centenary of Eastleigh Works celebrations and is still in service with GB Railfreight. Ex-loco condition.
