35 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "WILLINGTON HALL" As carried by a Hawksworth designed Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No 7927 built at Swindon Works in October 1950. Allocations included Reading, Old Oak Common, Cardiff Canton, Cardiff East Dock, Newport Ebbw Jct, and Oxford from where it was withdrawn in December 1965. Sent to Woodham's Barry in February 1966 for scrapping it was subsequently purchased for preservation and it now resides at the Llangollen Railway where the frames and boiler have been used for new steam loco projects. The Iron works closed in 1963 and the site was taken over by T.W.Ward. The loco was retained for use at the Mostyn Docks until being scrapped by Wards in Feb 1966. Size 46" x 5". 100 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "BIBBY LINE". As carried by the Southern Railway Merchant Navy 4-6-2 Pacific originally numbered 21C20 when built at Eastleigh Works in June 1945 but renumbered by BR as No "35020" in May 1948. Allocations included Nine Elms and Weymouth from where it was withdrawn in February 1965 after running 981궿 miles. Scrapped at Eastleigh 20/2/1965. It carried blue livery in the un-rebuilt form and experimental extended smoke deflectors. She was also fitted with a LMS tender in preparation for the locomotive exchanges (but she was held in reserve) A regular performer on the Devon Belle, ACE, Bournemouth Belle. Suffered a catastrophic failure at Crewkerne station (Demolishing part of the up platform canopy) on 24/04/1952 when the central driving axle fractured. This resulted in all MN class Locos being withdrawn and the instigation of the rebuild programme. The nameplate was presented to Bibby Line by BR and purchased by the original vendor in 1966 as evidenced by the accompanying letter. Lightly polished and with the original paint not skimmed but has some professionally executed restoration of the enamel crest. Supplied with the original BR wooden presentation plaque.
