Lot 170 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "MOREHAMPTON GRANGE" as carried by a Collett designed Ex GWR 4-6-0 No. 6853, built at Swindon works in November 1937. Allocations included Leamington Spa, Stratford-on-Avon and Tyseley from where it was withdrawn in October 1965. Cut up at Cohen's, Cransley, Kettering 04/66. One of Tyseley's favourites - Morehampton Grange was a dwelling in the parish of Abbey Dore a few miles north of Pontrillas, Herefordshire. Vendor purchased direct from Swindon. Front restored, back ex- loco condition. This plate is the first time in auction. The vendor was a fitter at Tyseley in the early 60s and this Grange was one of his favourite locos, so to make sure he got the nameplate, he wrote and requested to purchase it and then pre -paid for it three years prior to withdrawal.
