Lot 169 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "WELLINGTON" as carried by a Collett designed Castle Class Ex GWR 4-6-0 No. 5075, built at Swindon works in August 1938. Allocations included Wolverhampton Stafford Road, Chester (WR) Plymouth Laira, Exeter, Neath, Cardiff Canton and Bristol St. Philips Marsh from where it was withdrawn in September 1962. Cut up at Cashmore's, Newport, South Wales 12/62. Vickers' Wellington was a British twin-engined long-range medium bomber in service between June 1936 and March 1953. This plate is the first time in auction. Vendor purchased direct from Swindon. Front restored, back ex-loco condition.
