C/I Steam Locomotive Smoke box Number plate "55224" As carried by a McIntosh designed CR/LMS Class 2P-H 0-4-4T built at St. Rollox works in September 1914. Allocations included Polmadie, Perth and Oban from where it was withdrawn in October 1961. Cut up at Inverurie Works 02/62. This was the last steam locomotive to work the branch from TAYNUILT to BALLACHULISH. A very nice b/w photo of this loco is shown on the www.railphotoprints.uk website stored on Oban shed in 1961 with the smokebox plate clearly visible. Given to the vendor by local railwayman and Gaelic speaker Jimmy Christie. Guide: £800-1200 |
