Lot 250 | Brass LNER Commemorative Cabside Plaque. As carried by a Gresley V2 LNER 2-6-2 No 60835 "THE GREEN HOWARD". Built Darlington Works Sept 1938. Allocations included 52A, 52D, 52B, 52A, 61B, 64A from where it was withdrawn in October 1965. Cut up at Campbell's, Airdrie, 12/1965. This Plaque was fitted to the Loco in September 1938 at Richmond, Yorkshire. This remarkable survivor has been in an Ex LNER Driver's possession since the Loco came out of service in 1965. The Plaque was to commemorate the 250th year of the raising of the regiment 1688 - 1938. In original polished condition. ..The Plaques were fitted just under both Cab Windows clearly visible on many photographs!!!!!! . Only two V2's had these plaques this one and "THE SNAPPER".
