Lot 17 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "SNIPE". As carried by a Bowen-Cooke "George the Fifth" Class London & North Western Railway 4-4-0 No. 1730 (LMS No. 5376 from July 1927, then No. 25376 from October 1936) built at Crewe Works in October 1911. Allocations include Chester, from where it was withdrawn on 31 December 1947 and subsequently scrapped at Crewe Works. The plate is 56in long and the face is polished. N.B Named for the wading bird, found throughout the UK. Note: This item does not form part of the Kenneth Phillips Collection.
