Lot 250 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "TENNYSON" As carried by a Riddles designed BR Standard 7P6F 4-6-2 No 70032 built at Crewe Works in December 1952 allocations included Holyhead, Longsight, Trafford Park, Willesden, Carlisle Upperby and Carlisle Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn in September 1967. Cut up at J. McWilliams, Shettleston, near Glasgow 02/68. This plate has never been offered to the public before and has been ensconced in the Chesterfield area for more than 44 years it is mounted on a quality wooden backboard. Lord Alfred Tennyson FRS was the British poet laureate for Great Britain and Ireland during most of Queen Victoria's reign and was born in August 1809 and was 83 years old when he died in 1892 of Influenza.
