Lot 250 L.N.E.R. Brass Oval Steam Locomotive Works Plate originally carried by a Gresley designed 2-8-2 P2 (Mikado) No 2004 Named "LORD PRESIDENT". Works No 1836 built at Doncaster Works in June 1936.This Locomotive was rebuilt by Edward Thompson in December 1944 as a 4-6-2 and reclassified as an A2/2 and given BR No 60503 retaining its original name. First allocated to Edinburgh Haymarket subsequent sheds included Dundee Tay Bridge, King's Cross, Gateshead, Aberdeen Ferryhill, Leeds Neville Hill and lastly York from where it was withdrawn in November 1959. As the first of its class to be withdrawn it was cut up at its birthplace of Doncaster Works in the same month of withdrawal. The name Lord President is understood to be the title from the Edinburgh court of Sessions equivalent to the Lord chief Justice in England. A rare and desirable example from a small class of famous LNER Locomotives!!!!!!!!
