Lot 248 C/I Oval Loco Tender Plate "WATER CAPACITY - 5625 - GALLONS". As removed from a tender that was attached to "DUKE OF GLOUCESTER" 71000 while waiting in the reception sidings at Cashmore's Scrapyard in Newport. Further research shows that 5625 gallon plate is from a BR1F tender fitted to some 9F and 5MT Locos. The Duke had two purpose built tenders: - a BR1E in 1954 (4725 gallons) and a BR1J built November 1957 with increased coal and 4325 gallons. Both stand-alone tenders not noted in ABC's. Front restored - back in ex loco condition with 71000 chalked on the rear.
