Lot 300 Brass Oval Steam Locomotive Worksplate. As carried by Loco No 1163. "CONTRUCTED AT ASHFORD WORKS BY S.E. & C.R". It was a reboilered E Class 4-4-0, classified E1 after rebuilding by Beyer Peacock. Built at Ashford in April 1909, the first of the E1s to be withdrawn, in May 1949 from Bricklayers Arms, never receiving a B.R. number. A Most unlikely surviving Worksplate, and especially as the number on the reverse is technically incorrect. The loco was scrapped at Ashford Works sometime in 1949.
